A Unique Approach to Helping Children by Ministering to Men and Women in Positions of Authority Around the World including Sudan, Uganda, Kenya and Haiti!
What We Do
Our Approach is Unique and our Mission is Clear
Unique as we reach out to Law Enforcement Officers and Government Authorities in cross-cultural settings by providing training from Christian volunteer teams. By encouraging ethical and professional behavior we seek the help of those we train to assist us in providing safe environments for children who have suffered greatly often from civil war, famine, drought and even Genocide.
We are clear in what we do in that as relationships are developed our teams seek opportunities to share the love of Jesus Christ to all who will listen as we work in and through local churches. We also have a passion to walk alongside of Christian workers living overseas to encourage Missionaries, local Pastors, Police Chaplains and Church Leaders. This is accomplished through listening well to needs, providing prayer, spiritual direction and life coaching. As Director of Spiritual Care Nancy McDowell has a deep and abiding passion to see people walk in an intimate relationship with God, self and others. Coaching pastors, missionaries and church leaders for the last ten years, Nancy has been helping them deepen their relationships with God, self and others. She is a Certified as a Spiritual Director, Professional Life Coach and Health Coach. Nancy is a Registered Nurse and a graduate of Biola University. She is also the author of Thirsting for God ~ Encountering God through Abiding Prayer. Nancy has lead several personal and group retreats for missionaries overseas as well as for local churches in the U.S.
Indigenous Ministry Creates Self Sustaining Long Term Results
Our short term teams also consist of medical personnel allowing us to minister to communities through local churches, school and orphanages. Nancy and Dave have a vision to train additional team members who will join them in remaining in the countries they serve for 2-4 month terms after each short term team returns home. Their goal is to combine the advantages of both short term and long term missionary outreach to those they those they are training to create sustained indigenous outreaches that will be self sustaining.
We seek to raise funding to directly help these outreaches but we also roll up our sleeves and work to bring law enforcement and government officials into our efforts. By exchanging our expertise with local police officers and command staff we develop friendships and encourage direct involvement with the children in their villages and communities. You can partner with us to create more pictures like the one above on Graduation Day at Bethel Academy in Kampala, Uganda. Many of these children never knew what it was like to feel "safe and no longer have the comforting arms of a mother or father to fall into.
"Safe Harbor International exists to glorify God; to share the hope of the gospel of Jesus Christ with people living in spiritual darkness, despair and poverty."
